Information on repair and maintenance of Scania Series P cars electronically

The Swedish automotive truck manufacturer Scania began its history back in 1920. In 2011, the shareholders of the company were Volkswagen (significant share) and MAN. And since 2015, the company has been completely transferred to the Volkswagen concern.

The most popular truck models have been produced since 2004 and can be combined in series:

  • Scania P-series;
  • Scania R-series;
  • Scania T-series.

Scania P-Series trucks are designed for urban and inter-district haulage, utilities and construction work. The letter P in the series denotes the type of cabin: short, without a sleeping compartment (some models were produced with a berth and even provided accommodation for a crew of 5 people). If the model provides for a large number of people, this version of the car is mainly used for firefighting and rescue equipment. The P cabs are characterized by a low floor and a protruding tunnel. The chassis is represented by the maximum wheel formula, the set includes a leaf spring suspension. In 2017, they released an updated version of the truck: the windows were increased in the cab, the visibility was optimized due to the low front panel. The car is equipped with two engine options to choose from: 9 liters and 13 liters, with corresponding powers from 280 to 500 hp. The set includes 8 and 12 speed gearboxes. A little later, they began to offer to equip a 7-liter truck with a DC07 engine with a capacity of 220 to 280 hp

Scania's R-Series trucks are designed for long-haul travel and have won the Truck of the Year nomination twice. The R cab is elongated, without a berth, and has a 4-step rise. The height of the tunnel has decreased, correspondingly, the volume of space inside has increased. Some models are still equipped with sleeping compartments, for this they developed the Highline and Topline series, where an increased level of comfort, the control buttons are located on the steering wheel. In 2009, the version was improved, replaced with a fully automatic transmission, a V8 engine with a volume of 16.4 liters and an operating power of 730 hp was installed. The car has become fully compliant with Euro-5 standards. In 16, a new generation of the R-series was introduced, which brought trucks to the "premium" level of trucks. Comfortable cabins, manual control, increased noise insulation, a new climate system, reduced fuel consumption, Euro-6. Scania began to equip engines that run on alternative fuels: biodiesel, natural gas or biogas.

Scania T-Series vehicles were represented by bonneted cargo capacities produced from 2000 to 2005. The T cabins mainly came with a berth, of a different plan and level of comfort. Equipped with three engine options: P5, P6 and V8. The working volume in them ranged from 9 liters to 16 liters, with a power from 250 to 580 hp

Truck owners often do their own repair and maintenance, because the truck must always be ready for the route. And therefore it will be better if they understand the basic nuances:

  • how to replace brake pads;
  • how the electronics work;
  • how to change oil;
  • how to repair the chassis.
