Information on repair and maintenance of Renault Magnum cars electronically

The Renault Magnum, introduced under the name Renault AE (the AE model was later discontinued), is a series of trucks produced by the French manufacturer Renault Trucks from 1990 to 2013. The model range appeared in 1990 as the heaviest series of trucks from the French manufacturer. It replaced the R series, which, however, was offered in parallel until the lighter Premium model was released in 1996. The successor to the model was the Renault T-Truck, which was first presented in Lyon on June 11, 2013.

The first generation Renault Magnum was introduced in 1990. This tractor unit was an outstanding representative of its class. It had a high cab with a flat floor, as well as air suspension and air brakes, which, however, did not always include the ABS system.

The most powerful version of the Renault AE was equipped with a Mack EE9 V8 diesel engine with a volume of 16.4-16.5 liters with a turbocharger and a power of 500 to 560 horsepower. Less powerful options were also available with 12.0-liter MIDR 06.35.40 I6 engines produced by Renault, with power ranging from 380 to 420 horsepower.

In 1997, Renault restyled its tractor unit and the vehicle was renamed Renault Magnum. This restyling introduced a number of changes to the design and technical characteristics of the car. Major changes were made to the grille, instrument panel and engines provided by Mack.

One of the noticeable changes that distinguishes the first generation Magnum from the second is the corporate logo on the radiator grille. The first generation Magnum had a large diamond shape that was located in the center of the grille. In the second generation, this diamond became smaller and moved to the upper part of the radiator grille.

In 2001, a new generation of Renault Magnum was introduced. The new version of the car received updated 6-cylinder Mack-etech engines with 400, 440 and 480 horsepower. This improved the characteristics and performance of the tractor.

The fourth generation of the Renault Magnum was introduced in 2005 and was a significant step forward for the model. The fourth generation Renault Magnum was the first vehicle from Renault Trucks to use unified platforms developed within the AB Volvo group. This led to significant changes in design and technical characteristics.

In 2006, Magnum received a new 12.8-liter DXi13 turbodiesel engine, which met Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards. This engine was equipped with second generation unit injectors with an injection pressure of 2000 bar and developed power from 460 to 500 horsepower. The maximum torque in the powerful version reached 2450 Nm and was distributed in the speed range of 1050-1400 rpm. An Optibrake+ engine brake with 510 horsepower was also provided.

The main innovation in the fourth generation Renault Magnum concerned the chassis design. The frame has become modular, with the ability to choose the height of the fifth wheel coupling in four options: 950, 1040, 1100 and 1250 millimeters.

The cabin of the fourth generation Renault Magnum has been designed with an emphasis on comfort. It had a flat floor and an internal height of 1.87 meters. The control of the 12-speed Optidriver+ automated transmission was located on the steering wheel.

The Renault Magnum Vega was particularly comfortable and offered luxurious interior trim and a high-end audio system. For this version, a 500-horsepower DXi13 engine was used.
