Information on repair and maintenance of Iveco Stralis cars electronically

The Iveco Stralis is a semi-trailer truck and heavy semi-trailer produced by the Italian manufacturer IVECO since 2002 to replace the previous Eurostar and Eurotech ranges.

This top-of-the-range vehicle covers the heavy truck segment over 18 tons and can carry road trains up to 60 tons in Europe, 54 tons in South America and 120 tons in Australia.

The Iveco Stralis is produced in Germany and Italy for the European markets, in Brazil for the South American market and in Australia according to the same quality criteria and has the same Iveco Cursor engines, with air suspension, brake discs and in 4x2, 6x2 and 6x4 configuration, tractor and conveyor.

For the American and Australian markets, a version with a Powerstar branded hood is also offered. The Dutch IVECO dealer imports the Australian cabs and assembles this version for Europe called the Strator.

During the production process, Iveco Stralis underwent various modifications. The first generation (from 2002 to 2004) had the same handles as the Iveco Eurostar, the vents on the hood were covered with one grille, and the interior was also different. The top bunk was a one-piece (unlike the second and third generations, in which it was split to make room in the cab).

In the second generation (from 2004 to 2006), the handles were changed and black metal inserts were added to the deflector grille. The third generation (from 2006 to 2007) suffers from strong modifications: the standard chassis is dark gray, the mirrors are completely different (in addition to the shape, the layout has changes, both on the right and on the left there is an additional mirror that allows you to see the IV quadrant while making maneuvers more accurate.

All Iveco Stralis models are equipped with the EuroTronic gearbox, which provides automatic or semi-automatic gear shifting. In 2002, Iveco Stralis became the first heavy truck with an automatic transmission as standard.

In 2012, a new version called the Iveco Stralis Hi-Way was introduced, meeting the Euro 6 emission standard. In 2016, a new version called the Iveco Stralis XP debuted, and in 2019 the all-new Iveco S-Way model replaced the Iveco Stralis.

Iveco bypassed Euro 4 and immediately switched to Euro 5 using selective catalytic reduction (SCR). A six-cylinder 7.8-liter Cursor 8 was added with 360 hp, Cursor 10 options included 420 and 450 hp, and Cursor 13 engines had a choice of 500 and 560 hp

For Euro 6, Iveco moved from pump-injectors to common-rail injection, kept its faith in SCR and beefed up two smaller engines. The Cursor 8 has been replaced by the six-cylinder 8.7-liter Cursor 9 engine with 330, 360 and 400 hp

In 2017, Iveco introduced a range of NP (Natural Power) engines using compressed or liquefied natural gas to power their engines. Variants include Cursor 8 with 270, 300 and 300 hp, Cursor 9 with 400 hp and then Cursor 13 with 460 hp

Within 12 months of its launch, Iveco became the first Western truck manufacturer to make its new ZF 16-speed automatic transmission dubbed "EuroTronic" standard on the Iveco Stralis range. Eventually the 12-speed automatic replaced the 16-speed version. For Euro 6, the name EuroTronic was originally retained, but in 2016 Iveco used the development of ZF and gave the box a new name.

Regular operation of Iveco Stralis trucks requires maintenance and repair. Vehicle owners often want to figure out the basic issues of troubleshooting and repairing their cars on their own.
