Information on repair and maintenance of Subaru Impreza cars electronically

Subaru Impreza is a compact car from the Japanese car manufacturer Subaru. The model was designed to fill the gap between the large Subaru Legacy and the small Subaru Justy, and became the successor to the Subaru L series. It should also replace the Subaru Legacy in the WRC.

The car is offered as a four-door sedan, a five-door station wagon, and since the spring of 2007 also in a hatchback version. As usual with Subaru, most cars were equipped with a boxer engine and permanent all-wheel drive. The four-door sedan is the sportiest model in the Subaru Impreza series, with which Subaru won the World Constructors' Championship three times in a row.

The debut of the first generation of the Subaru Impreza model took place in 1993, when the car was presented in two body versions: a sedan and a station wagon. During this period, models were offered with different types of drive: front-wheel drive versions were equipped with 1.6-liter engines, while all-wheel drive versions were equipped with 1.8 and 2.0-liter engines (a 2.2-liter engine was also offered in the USA).

The second generation of the Subaru Impreza model was introduced in 2001, and compared to the previous version, the car increased in size. Characteristic features were large headlights, which received nicknames in different years of production: “Bug Eyes” for 2002-2003 models, “Crocodile Eyes” for 2004-2005 and “Hawk Eyes” for 2006-2007.

In 2008, the third generation of the Subaru Impreza model was introduced. The new version continued the previous tradition, offering two body styles: sedan and hatchback, while the station wagon was replaced by a hatchback. Compared to the previous model, the car has increased in size, becoming longer and wider.

In 2010, the Subaru Impreza family underwent a restyling, during which changes were made to the design, including a new false radiator grille and modification of the front bumper. Also in 2010, an updated version of the high-performance WRX STi was presented at the New York Motor Show. These changes give the model a more modern and aesthetic look, as well as updated technology and functionality.

In 2011, the fourth generation of the Subaru Impreza was introduced, available in two body styles: sedan and hatchback, and at the end of this year the off-road version XV, created on the basis of the new Impreza, was presented. This model variant combines the style and character of the Impreza with off-road features, offering a new take on off-road capability.

The fifth generation Subaru Impreza was presented at the 2016 New York Auto Show. The base 2.0i sedan comes with a rearview camera, six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, 60/40 folding rear seatbacks, and 15-inch wheels. The audio entertainment system includes four speakers, AM/FM/HD Radio/CD player, USB input, Bluetooth and 6.2-inch touchscreen controls.

Advanced models add heated front seats, an automatic transmission, a center console with sliding armrests, an upgraded audio system (six speakers) and 16-inch alloy wheels. The Limited trim includes automatic climate control, leather upholstery, a 7-inch touchscreen, two USB ports and the Starlink security system.

The model was updated in 2020, and models with a CVT received the EyeSight safety system. From now on, the car is equipped with an STI engine with a power of 152 hp. and comes with a five-speed manual transmission or continuously variable transmission (CVT). Both modifications have fuel consumption of 8.4 liters per 100 km in the city and 6.5 liters per 100 km on the highway.
