Repair and service Opel cars in the eBook
Adam Opel GmbH (known simply as Opel) is a German automobile manufacturer headquartered in Rüsselsheim am Main in Hesse. In the past, he was also a manufacturer of sewing machines, bicycles and motorcycles.
The company was founded in August 1862 by Adam Opel, originally as a sewing machine factory. & Nbsp; In 1898, three years after the death of the company's founder, who never wanted to make cars, Sophie Opel began making cars.
From the very beginning, Opel has been producing various body and engine options, including a cargo van. Motorization allowed a maximum speed of up to 40 km / h. However, they could not compete with highly developed French automotive technology, so the production of cars was temporarily stopped.
In 1902, Opel signed a cooperation agreement with the French car manufacturer Darracq and began producing Voiturette cars under the Opel-Darracq brand name. The collaboration continued until 1907. However, in 1902, Opel's own development was already created - 10/12 hp, equipped with a 1.9-liter two-cylinder engine.
After the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, Opel continued to manufacture automobiles, including the 8/22 and 9/25 hp models. The 21/55 hp model, introduced in 1919, was Opel's first six-cylinder car and was produced until 1924. From 1929 to 2017, Opel was part of the General Motors group, and from March 2017 - into the French PSA group, which then merged into Stellantis.
Opel was General Motors' primary brand in Europe. Vauxhall's range of models in the United Kingdom is no different from Opel, with the exception of slight variations in body styles. The same Opel models are sold in many countries as in Europe, with a few exceptions.
In South America, General Motors sells Opel models under the Chevrolet brand name, but there were also some models available only overseas under the Opel brand name. In the United Kingdom, Vauxhall vehicles are produced identically to Opel models. The Opel Astra H is still available in Central and Eastern Europe, here under the name Opel Astra Classic III as an alternative to the new Opel Astra J. The Opel Classic III is available in hatchback and sedan bodies and as a trailer.
In Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, the updated Opel Astra G was offered as a Chevrolet Astra (with hatchback and notchback), in Chile and Mexico - the Opel Astra H. Chevrolet Viva, sold in Russia, is a four-door Opel Astra G (since March 2008 it is not produced ). Saturn Aura, offered in the US and Canada, is based on the Opel Vectra C.
In 2007-2009, a modified version of the Opel Astra H was also offered in North America as the Saturn Astra. In Australia and New Zealand, the Opel Astra and Opel Combo were available as Holden. In North America and China, General Motors markets Opel models as Buicks, with minor differences reflected only in design. The current Buick Regal is based on the Opel Insignia. The main differences are a redesigned Buick waterfall grille and a redesigned interior lighting color (blue instead of red).
