Repair and service Land Rover cars in the eBook
Land Rover is a British car manufacturer specializing in the production of predominantly four-wheel drive SUVs, part of the Jaguar Land Rover group, owned since 2008 by the Indian manufacturer Tata Motors. It is the second oldest 4x4 manufacturer in the world (after Jeep).
The name Land Rover comes from the first model of the type, built by the English company Rover, formerly British Leyland, which pioneered later civil and military models. The main feature since the release of the first model in Amsterdam on April 30, 1948 is the all-wheel drive, which allows these cars to overcome even very rough terrain. Today, the Land Rover brand is represented exclusively by luxury luxury SUVs.
The first car bearing the Land Rover name was designed by Maurice Wilkes in 1948 in England. At first, the driver's seat was located in the center of the front seat, considering its use in various countries with right-hand or left-hand traffic. The idea did not flourish. The body of the first model was straight forward, with riveted aluminum panels to avoid iron shortages at the time. A group of three simple front seats on a transverse metal box, together with two benches located longitudinally in the rear, allowed nine people to be transported. The roof was canvas with a metal frame. Removable front doors in their upper half had sliding glass in the removable part. Finally, in 1948, it was presented at the Salon in Amsterdam, and in 1949 its production began.
In the seventies, the brand released the first ever luxury SUV Range Rover. At the same time, it began to face competition from Japan, namely the Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol, and finally the Mitsubishi Pajero. The Range Rover was a great success and was also offered in sporty versions to meet the needs of more affluent customers.
The Range Rover is the first large luxury SUV to be released in four different generations. It has been produced since the 1970s and is considered the first luxury SUV. List prices are very high, and with the restyling at the end of 2017, there is also a new plug-in hybrid version.
Throughout its existence, the company has released the following models:
