The first generation Touareg platform provides a longitudinal engine arrangement, independent suspension. These engines are paired with a 6-speed transmission, automatic or mechanic.
The safety of the car is equipped at the maximum level and has the following systems: ESP, ABS, EBC and HBA, tire pressure monitoring. On request, the Touareg is equipped with a parking system and obstacle sensors around the vehicle.

In 2010, the Volkswagen Touareg II was introduced. The main changes were the engine line and the 8-speed automatic transmission. The following options were available:

- turbodiesel V8 with a volume of 4.2 liters and 340 hp;
- petrol engines with a volume of 3.6 liters and a power of 249 hp. and a volume of 3.6 liters, a power of 280 hp;
- hybrid, petrol + electric motor, 3.0L with 333hp paired with 47 hp electric motor.
The basic equipment included four-wheel drive, heated seats, climate control, central locking.
The car underwent restyling in 2014, the changes affected:
- bi-xenon headlights;
- automatic braking after a collision;
- best cruise control ACC;
- V6 engine with a power of 258-262 horsepower.
The third generation Touareg was presented with the latest fuel economy technologies. Gasoline engines were supplemented by four-cylinder, gas and diesel turbo engines and in-line supercharged VR6 3.0. All units are compatible with an 8-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive.
The car is equipped with a night vision system, a head-up display on the windshield. The car can be additionally equipped with the Off-road package, which will add off-road modes, additionally protect the bottom and increase the tank from the base 75 liters to 90 liters.
