Information on repair and maintenance of Volkswagen Gol cars electronically

The Volkswagen Gol model is represented by compact class B hatchbacks. Initially, the models were intended for the American market, but later they became widespread beyond its territory. Since the beginning of production, and this is 1980, more than 3.5 million copies of cars have been produced.

The first generation Gol was an immediate success. Practicality and reliability have made this car the most popular and best-selling in its class. The name of the car has some peculiarity. In Ukraine, the model was called Pointer.

The first generation is based on the Polo and Golf platforms, and some of the components in the car are borrowed from Volkswagen and Audi. The first cars were equipped with an air-cooled gasoline engine, but were reluctant to sell. Then the engine was replaced with a 1.6 L unit, paired with a double carburetor. Later, water-cooled models and an enlarged 1.8 liter engine were added.

The first facelift took place after 6 years, the second after 10 years: the hood, bumper, radiator grill, headlights and turn signals were changed in both updates. In 1992, a 1.0 liter version of the engine appeared, called the Gol 1000. The model was modernized in 1994, which helped the car become more modern, functional and beautiful.

The second generation Volkswagen Gol started with an increase in the wheelbase, and the body has settled down with a streamlined shape. All engine variants received generation II fuel injection. The production of the Gol 16V engine dates back to 1996, using 2.0 l units imported from Germany. The next year, a diesel option was provided.

The third generation debuted in 1999. But in fact, we can say that this was the second generation after the facelift. But Volkswagen decided to single out the model in a new generation. Upgrades include a luggage compartment door and a new dashboard.

The engine lineup received a new 16V Turbo unit with a volume of 1.0 liters and a power of 112 hp. The car has been modernized over time, updating the bumper and radiator grill.

In 2005, the fourth generation Gol was presented, which, like the previous version, became a modernized third generation. Changed headlights, bumpers, dashboard.

In the summer of 2008, the fifth generation Gol was presented. The car was equipped with two variants of gasoline engines:

  • a volume of 1.0 l and a capacity of 72 horsepower;
  • volume of 1.6 liters with a force of 101 horsepower.

For the Brazilian market, the "Total Flex" engine was introduced, which could run on gasoline, ethanol or a mixture of both.
