Information on repair and maintenance of Volkswagen Caddy cars electronically

The Volkswagen Caddy van has been produced by the German manufacturer Volkswagen since 1982, both in Europe and around the world. Today there are 4 generations.

The Caddy Typ 14 is the first generation of the model, based on the Volkswagen Golf. Initially, the car was used as a small truck, because the cabin did not provide for the transportation of passengers. The model was equipped with a gasoline engine with a carburetor with an output of 81 hp. and a volume of 1.6 liters. The generation did not leave the assembly line for about 10 years.

The second generation Caddy Typ 9K was presented in 1996. This time, the Spanish platform Seat, A03, was taken as a basis. The wheelbase and body were lengthened, and they took the front of the Seat Ibiza as a basis. Equipped the car with a diesel engine. The model was in demand - small firms, couriers, delivery of food, vegetables and fruits - everyone bought such a van. Production of the second generation Caddy in Europe ceased back in 2004, and the model is still being produced in Argentina.

The Czech Republic produced the Caddy Typ 9U (second generation Volkswagen Caddy). The car was equipped with 2 engine options: gasoline with a volume of 1.6 liters and 74 hp, and diesel 1.9 liters, 63 hp

In 2000, global manufacturers of the auto industry began to produce models that provided for the transportation of goods and passengers. Following the demand, Volkswagen is launching the new Caddy Typ 2K, based on the PQ35 platform from the Golf V, which is very similar to the Touran. Caddy is immediately produced in commercial and passenger versions: Kasten and Kombi, respectively.

Buyers can choose from four different engine options with a manual transmission:

  • petrol: 1.4 l, 75 hp or 1.6 l, 102 HP;
  • diesel 2.0 l SDI (69 HP);
  • turbocharged 1.9 l TDI (105 hp).

The facelift of the 2015-2016 Volkswagen Caddy is based on the same platform as the third generation. Electric power steering, disc brakes, three gasoline engines with different volumes and several versions of a 2.0 liter diesel engine, differing in power, were installed under the hood. The motors are designed for 5-6 manual transmissions and robotic ones with 6 and 7 steps.

On February 20, 2020, the fourth generation Volkswagen Caddy debuted in Europe. The car is offered as a cargo van, and as a passenger van, it can accommodate up to seven people. The new generation Caddy is the first to receive a camping retrofit called the California, with a kitchenette and an intricate double bed under a panoramic roof. The new generation is equipped with 1-1.5 liter gasoline engines, or 1.6-2 liter diesel engines.

The Caddy range represents a generation of high-tech vehicles that are versatile in their application. Reliable and powerful. But even the most top-end cars need regular maintenance, and a good driver must understand the basic nuances:

  • how to change oil;
  • how to repair the chassis;
