Over the history of the existence of the tractor, the following modifications were released:
- YuMZ-6 (production from 1970 to 1978);
- UMZ-6A (production from 1978 to 1986);
- UMZ-6K (production from 1986 to 1993);
- UMZ-6AK (production from 1993 to 2001).
There were also modifications, which were designated by the letters “L” and “M”. The difference was in the way the engine was started. So, tractors with the designation “L” had starting motors, designated “M” - an electric starter.
As for the engine, YuMZ tractors could be equipped with two engine options: D-65 (volume 4.95 liters and power 60 horsepower) and D242-71 (volume 4.75 liters and power 62 horsepower).
All tractors had a five-speed gearbox with moving gears. Some copies were equipped with a gear doubler. YuMZ tractors were created on a classic semi-frame layout.
