Information on repair and maintenance of Toyota Vigo cars electronically

Toyota began producing the new, seventh generation of its famous Toyota HiLux frame pickup trucks in August 2004. The same model is supplied to Australia, the Middle East and Asia under the name Toyota Vigo, but has more modest equipment and a low level of anti-corrosion protection.

Models for the 2005 model year were equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, and differential locks were available as an option. Both full-fledged off-road versions and more economical 4x2 versions were produced.

The Toyota Vigo is offered in a variety of configurations, including base 4x2 or 4x4 versions, and regular, extended or crew cabs with folding rear seats. Overall dimensions have been increased compared to the previous generation Toyota HiLux, resulting in an increase in length, width and wheelbase. The cargo compartment has become longer, especially with a double cab.

The car uses a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine producing 102 horsepower, with different torque levels for 4x2 and 4x4 versions. In the future, it is planned to introduce a version of this engine with intercooled charge air. The gearbox is a 5-speed manual, and for all-wheel drive versions there is a 2-speed transfer case. A limited-slip rear differential is standard.

In 2006, the Toyota Hilux Vigo was replenished with a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine producing 171 horsepower. This engine uses Common-Rail technology, which allows you to increase the pressure to 1600 bar and reduce the diameter of the injectors. The maximum torque is 343 Nm in the range from 1400 to 3400 rpm. This engine is available only in four-wheel drive versions of four-door cab pickups and is offered with a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic. The maximum speed for the version with a manual transmission is 170 km/h, and for the version with an automatic transmission – 175 km/h.

A modified 2.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine was also used during this period and powered most versions of the Toyota Hilux, including all-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, with varying numbers of doors and steering wheel layouts (right-hand or left-hand drive). The characteristics of this engine include a displacement of 2.5 liters and a power of 120 horsepower. It was offered with a five-speed manual transmission. The maximum speed of the non-all-wheel drive version in this configuration was about 165 km/h, and for the all-wheel drive version – 155 km/h.

During the 2008 model year facelift, the front end was slightly redesigned. The SOL, Life, Comfort and Executive trim levels now receive wheel arch extensions, 265 tires and side skirts increasing the width to 1835 mm. In addition, in these versions the indicators were integrated into the mirror housing. Both diesel engines were now available with switchable all-wheel drive.

In the 2009 model year, the Toyota Hilux Vigo underwent another facelift. As an identifying feature, a horizontal chrome stripe on the grille was now located below the brand symbol, and further innovations included revised front wheel suspension, automatic climate control, side airbags and a locking tailgate. Version 3.0 D-4D received a modified five-speed automatic transmission from Toyota Landcruiser instead of a four-speed one, which reduced consumption.
