Information on repair and maintenance of Suzuki SX-4 cars electronically

The Suzuki SX4 is a vehicle produced by the Japanese automaker Suzuki and takes different forms (compact SUV or sedan) depending on the markets in which it is sold.

The project that spawned the Suzuki SX4 and its twin Fiat Sedici began in the early 2000s, when General Motors (a shareholder in the Suzuki brand) formed a joint venture with the Fiat group to manufacture passenger cars for the European market. Suzuki technicians created a kind of compact SUV that could fill the void left by the previous Suzuki Liana.

The Suzuki SX4 platform used a new base frame, developed from the fourth series Swift platform, which could use as a mechanical structure an engine located transversely at the front and capable of transmitting power mainly to the front drive wheels.

Details include headlights that echo the family atmosphere introduced by the fourth Suzuki Swift series in 2004, while the rear has large triangular headlights. Large side windows and a surprisingly spacious cab have been designed to provide an optimal experience in the vehicle.

Compared to the Fiat Sedici, the Suzuki SX4 has significantly different front and rear bumpers and a different and more muscular design. The interior dashboard, on the other hand, remains unchanged: precise assembly avoids annoying squeaks and the materials used are of modest quality.

The design follows a standard pattern, with basic audio and climate controls clustered in the center section, while instruments behind the steering wheel are used in many Suzuki models.

The Suzuki SX4 debuted at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show, and production at the Kosai plant began in early 2006. In Europe, it was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2006, at the same time as production began in Hungary at the Esztergom plant, where Fiat Sedici is also assembled. In production in Hungary, the car is produced with a circulation of about 40,000 copies per year, intended only for the European market.

For India, the Suzuki SX4 was only offered in 2007 and marketed under the Maruti-Suzuki brand, the production of which was entrusted to the Menesa plant.

For the Eastern European markets, the Suzuki SX4 is also produced in St. Petersburg, Russia. According to the parent company, the Suzuki SX4 model (excluding the Fiat Sedici) is produced worldwide at approximately 150,000 units per year.

Both Suzuki SX4 and Fiat Sedici offer a choice of two engines:

  • petrol 1.6 with a capacity of 100 hp by Suzuki;
  • multi-jet diesel engine 1.9 with a power of 120 hp from FIAT, equipped with a particulate filter.

The cars are warranted for 3 years or 100,000 km.

In the spring of 2009, the Suzuki SX4 underwent a slight restyling with new engines.

It was at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show that Suzuki unveiled its second generation Suzuki SX4, which became known as the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross.

The new generation has increased dimensions compared to the previous one: the length of the standard version reaches 4300 mm, and the wheelbase is 2600 mm.

Gasoline and diesel engines with a displacement of 1600 cm³ are available, as well as a continuously variable transmission CVT as an option. Four-wheel drive is also announced as an option.

Another good thing is that the Suzuki New SX4 claims to contain emissions:

  • from 125 to 136 g / km CO 2 for petrol engine;
  • 110 to 115 g / km CO 2 in case of diesel version.
