Information on repair and maintenance of Suzuki Grand Vitara cars electronically

Suzuki Grand Vitara is a compact crossover manufactured by the Japanese company Suzuki. Its history dates back to 1997, this car, known in the domestic Japanese market as the Suzuki Vitara (Suzuki Escudo), is a five-door model. However, in addition to the standard version, there is also an extended model called the Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 (Suzuki Grand Escudo), as well as a short three-door model.

The crossover is distinguished by its style and performance, giving owners the opportunity to choose between different configurations, depending on their needs and preferences. The car combines compact size and functionality, making it a popular choice among crossover enthusiasts.

The first generation of Suzuki Grand Vitara was introduced in 1998. Technically, this car, known in the domestic Japanese market as Escudo, was a body-on-frame crossover with all-wheel drive. Diesel versions were also available in a number of export markets.

The first generation of this model is equipped with a Part-Time all-wheel drive system, which means the driver can manually engage the front axle. An important new feature was the Drive Select 4x4 switch, which allowed four-wheel drive to be switched on or off on the fly at speeds of up to 100 km/h. Downshifting was possible only when the car was completely stopped.

In 2001, the model underwent a modernization, including changes in external design and equipment, which made it more modern and improved its performance.

In 2005, the Japanese company introduced the second generation Suzuki Grand Vitara. Unlike its predecessor, this model has a ladder-type frame built into the body, and all-wheel drive is permanent. The transmission also features a cross-axle differential lock and a reduction gear.

The description of the appearance of the new second generation Suzuki Grand Vitara distinguishes it as a completely different model from its first generation predecessor. The exterior of the new model contains no hints of its predecessor.

The car is equipped with permanent all-wheel drive, multiplier and cross-axle differential lock, which makes it suitable for various road conditions and difficult terrain. Two body styles are available: a three- and five-door SUV. The five-door version features a massive C-pillar and large taillights, creating an impressive and memorable visual solution.

These new exterior features indicate that the second generation Suzuki Grand Vitara is a completely new and innovative car, focused on comfort and performance.

In the Japanese domestic market, the car is offered in several special editions, including Helly Hansen (developed for outdoor enthusiasts in collaboration with a winter clothing manufacturer), Salomon (featuring chrome body panels), Supersound Edition (with premium audio system) and FieldTrek (with roof rails and sunroof, xenon head optics).

In the second half of 2008, the model underwent minor restyling and received two new engines: 2.4 liters (169 hp, with an automatic variable valve timing system) and 3.2 liters (232 hp, V-shaped 6-cylinder unit). In 2012, the car was modernized again.

The Suzuki Grand Vitara is offered in three versions: standard, Premium and Limited. Standard equipment on the base model includes 16-inch steel wheels, automatic headlights and keyless entry. The Premium model additionally comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, tinted rear window and cruise control. The Limited, the most expensive model, comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, a panoramic sunroof, chrome trim and keyless entry.

The third generation Suzuki Grand Vitara is sold by Maruti Suzuki India from 2022 and is offered primarily in the Indian market. Alongside the Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid is an almost identical model from Toyota. Further market entries are planned later, for example in Africa, and exports to Europe are excluded.
