Information on repair and maintenance of SsangYong Korando cars electronically

The SsangYong Korando is a mid-size SUV produced in several series by the Korean automaker SsangYong Motor Company since 1983.

The production of SUVs under the name Korando began in 1983 by Geohwa. Originally, the cars in this series were a licensed copy of the popular Jeep CJ-7 model. In 1985, Dong-A Motor, the predecessor of SsangYong, was bought by Geohwa. The next important step was the acquisition of Dong-A Motor by the SsangYong Group in 1986. After this, the company changed its name to SsangYong Motor Company.

After the completion of production of the first generation, the company released a licensed version of the Isuzu Trooper, presenting it under the name SsangYong Korando Family. However, this car was distributed only in the South Korean market, in the countries of Southeast Asia and partially in South America. Early models were equipped with a 2.2-liter diesel engine from Trooper, while later versions received a 2.3-liter turbodiesel from Mercedes-Benz.

The second generation of the car offered a variety of engines, including two petrol (2.3 liters and 3.2 liters) and two diesel (2.3 liters and 2.9 liters), developed under license from Mercedes-Benz. Diesel versions are available both with and without turbocharging, giving customers a choice based on their preferences and requirements.

In 1997, production of an updated version of the SsangYong Korando began, offering two body styles: station wagon and convertible. The car was available with two diesel and three petrol models.

The car was also equipped with an ABS system and a limited-slip rear differential, which, in combination with rigidly connected or permanent all-wheel drive, provided excellent off-road capabilities. The basic configuration includes two airbags and air conditioning.

In 2000, the Korean company Daewoo Motor Company also produced the Korando and Musso models under its own brand, making changes to the headlights and radiator grille, while keeping other technical characteristics of the cars unchanged.

The third generation SsangYong Korando began its production at the end of 2010 and is a direct competitor to the Hyundai ix35 and Kia Sportage. On the Russian market the car is sold under the name SsangYong New Actyon.

On the Ukrainian market, the car is offered with a 2.0-liter e-XDi200 diesel engine with a capacity of 175 horsepower, which fully complies with the requirements of the EURO-5 standard. The car is available with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, as well as with a 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed E-Tronic automatic. The front suspension is McPherson type, the rear is multi-link.

The fourth generation SsangYong Korando was presented in South Korea on February 26 and first appeared on the world stage at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019.

The car offers a choice between a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 163 horsepower or a 1.6-liter diesel engine with 136 horsepower. The car is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. Buyers can also choose between a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed AISIN automatic transmission.

This crossover impresses with its modern design, which makes it a striking example of city cars. SsangYong Korando has a stylish appearance, typical of modern crossovers. Its compact dimensions make it convenient for urban use, while maintaining sufficient internal space.
