Mercedes-Benz Actros represents a range of large trucks, weighing from 18 to 25 tons, produced by the Mercedes-Benz auto concern since 1996. The first generation Actros MP1 replaces the MK / SK, which had been in production for over 20 years. Since 2008, the Mercedes-Benz carmaker has been the first to install an automatic transmission as standard in the basic configuration. As with any truck model, there were many options for the wheel arrangement, the number of driving, steering and supported axles. Until 2000, the developers solved the problems with defects in the car, began to install engines of the Euro-3 class, later Euro-4 and Euro-5.
The premiere of the second generation Actors MP2 was presented in 2002. The trucks featured improved engines, axles and suspensions. The driver's cab received an updated design, the V6 and v8 engines received new indexes and more powerful modifications, from 320 to 456 hp. Actors MP2 with Megaspace cab are considered the most spacious and comfortable, and the SLT version is a tractor for the heaviest transport, weighing up to 250 tons. In 2008, another update to the Actros MP3 was released: an updated grille, bumper and headlights. Engines V6, 320-476 hp, and V8, 510-600 hp, were supplied with fully automatic transmission.
In the same year, the Actros Bau construction truck series was presented. It differed not only in external design changes, but also in a new automatic transmission. The SLT tractors were equipped with a new powerful 16.0 liter V8 engine with 653 hp.
The second generation of the Actros lineup began with the presentation of the MP4 in 2011, which received a unique Proximity Control Assist system, which controls the movement of cars in traffic jams. Such trucks were developed specifically for Europe, where the engine system was Euro-6 compliant. The 6-cylinder engine, with a capacity of 420-510 hp, was the first engine of the updated version. The new generation Actros SLT completes the Euro 6 truck range. And today, this is the only truck that meets these standards.
The new Actros MP5 has been produced from 2018-2019 and has been improved in terms of safety, comfort and modernity. This is the first production truck to be equipped with rear-view cameras and a 360-degree view system.
