Information on repair and maintenance of Mazda 3 cars electronically

Mazda 3 is a mid-class passenger car produced since 2003 by the Japanese manufacturer Mazda. In many Asian countries the car is sold as the Mazda Axela.

The first and second generations are technologically related to the Ford Focus and Volvo S40 / V50, as they share a common platform.

The final version of the Mazda 3 model in a 5-door version (hatchback) was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2003. And the 4-door version (sedan) appeared in early 2004.

The model was generally well received by the automotive press for its performance, handling, styling and interior. Some criticism focused on fuel economy and crash test results (as the car only received four out of five EURO NCAP stars), the latter being remedied by the addition of six airbags as standard.

In 2006, the Mazda 3 was the second best-selling car in Canada and the best-selling car in Israel from 2005-2007.

In April 2006, the Mazda 3 underwent a slight restyling of the front end. Obvious signs of an update are:

  • slightly enlarged radiator grille;
  • new front and rear bumpers;
  • alloy wheels with a new design;
  • improved internal assembly;
  • introduction of 1.4 liter gasoline engines with a power of 84 hp. and 1.6 liter and 2.0 liter turbodiesel engines with 90 and 143 horsepower.

The second generation will debut at the 2008 Sydney International Motor Show as a sedan, while the five-door version will be unveiled at the 2008 Bologna Motor Show and go on sale in April next year. The new design builds on the previous generation by updating the front end. New silver headlights are installed at the rear.

The third generation Mazda 3, as a 2014 model, was introduced in Australia on June 26, 2013. It has now been built on the new SkyActiv chassis and no longer uses the Ford C1 platform.

Two SkyActiv engines were offered in the North American market: a 2.0-liter with 155 hp. and 2.5-liter with 184 hp. The 2014 Mazda3, equipped with a 2.5-liter engine and 6-speed automatic transmission, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. And the 2.0-liter engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.

Three SkyActiv-G petrol engines were offered in Europe: one 1.5-litre and two 2.0-litres (at two different power levels, 120 PS and 165 PS) and one 2.2-litre diesel SkyActiv-D.

The fourth generation Mazda 3 hatchbacks and sedans were presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 28, 2018. Both feature an enhanced KODO design language based on the Vision concept cars.

With the launch of this generation, the Axela name was dropped from the Japanese market as part of Mazda's new global naming structure.

This generation brings improved levels of quality and refinement, in addition to equipment options that include a new head-up display, 12-speaker Bose audio, Smart Key, LED headlights, sunroof, blind spot monitor, camera, color instrument cluster and dual-zone automatic climate control.
