Information on repair and maintenance of Lincoln Navigator cars electronically

The Lincoln Motor Company (known simply as Lincoln) is an American luxury car brand owned by the Ford Motor Company group.

This luxury car brand was founded in August 1917 by Henry M. Leland, one of the founders of Cadillac. Leland left Cadillac, now part of General Motors, during World War I and, with his son Wilfred, founded the Lincoln Motor Company, named after President Abraham Lincoln.

The company originally produced Liberty aircraft engines. After the war, Lincoln's factories were converted into luxury cars.

After the transformation of production, the company faced big financial problems, and on February 4, 1922, having produced only 150 cars, it was declared bankrupt and sold to the Ford Motor Company for $ 8 million, some of which was used to pay off debts.

The Lincoln purchase was a personal success for Henry Ford. Sales of Lincoln vehicles increased thanks to price cuts and cosmetic changes. Thus, Lincoln became one of the most successful luxury brands in the United States, along with Cadillac and Packard.

It is a well-known luxury car brand that started producing cars for governments early on, even for British royalty and the French head of state.

Lincoln was one of the brands in the Premier Automotive Group created by Ford, which included other well-known brands such as Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo.

In 1923, the American automaker introduced new body styles, including a phaeton and a four-door sedan. The offer also included two-seater roadsters, seven-seater sedans and limousines starting at $ 5,200.

The Lincoln Continental, originally based on the Lincoln Zephyr, was the most important model sold by Lincoln. A distinctive feature of this model is the relief created by the spare wheel mounted on the outside of the rear of the vehicle: even today this feature is called the "Continental Kit". The Lincoln Continental remained the emblematic Lincoln model until 1981, when the Lincoln Town Car took over.

In 1998, Lincoln returned to being the best-selling luxury brand in the United States thanks to the remarkable success of the Lincoln Navigator SUV and updated versions of the Lincoln Town Car and Lincoln Continental.

Between 1998 and 2002, Lincoln was part of the Premier Automotive Group, into which Ford merged its most prestigious brands, but was then split in line with a new corporate differentiation strategy for American and imported brands.

Lincoln subsequently found itself stranded by a lack of new models, losing ground to American and Japanese competitors such as Cadillac and Lexus. However, Ford is trying to fix this: by sharing platforms with other models in the Lincoln group, it is updating its lineup with new SUVs such as the Lincoln Aviator and Lincoln Corsair, which are enjoying success.
