The company is engaged in the production of bonnet and cabover trucks, occupying a leading position among the heaviest class of vehicles. In 1997, the corporation buys out the truck division from Ford, and begins to produce them under the Sterling brand. Freightliner Trucks is currently the largest manufacturer of heavy trucks in the United States with more than 22,000 employees and an annual turnover of over $ 32 billion.
