Information on repair and maintenance of Ford Ranger cars electronically
Ford Ranger is an all-terrain pickup truck produced by the American manufacturer Ford since 1983. The name "Ranger" was previously used (from 1965 to 1981) for the more luxurious Ford F-Series, a series of full-size pickup trucks. In 1983, the Ford Ranger replaced the Ford Courier and became a separate model.
Ford Ranger mid-size pickup trucks are a great alternative for buyers who need the practicality of a truck, but don't need the size and capabilities of a more expensive full-size truck.
Features of Ford Ranger
Ford began development of the Ford Ranger in 1976, paying particular attention to fuel quality and efficiency. The intention was to build a truck with the same load capacity as the Ford F series, but in a more economical version. That's why this Ford Ranger is styled after Ford trucks, has a similar architecture and is offered with all-wheel drive.
A mid-size pickup called the Ford Ranger was first developed exclusively for the North American market and appeared on it in the early 1980s.
The first Ford Ranger series was introduced in 1983 along with the Ford Bronco, which used the same platform but was available in a closed version, almost like an SUV.
The truck underwent a facelift in 1989, including colored composite headlights, new front fenders, hood and grille, as well as some structural improvements. The changes concerned the improvement of aerodynamic performance and internal ergonomic characteristics. Rear brakes with an anti-lock system were added, and an additional 79-liter fuel tank was added to the double-cab model.
The second generation of Ford Ranger appeared in 1993, most of the chassis of which has practically not changed compared to the previous generation. A new design appeared, with a more streamlined shape than before. The lines were softened and other changes were made, including wider doors. The dashboard retained the same design as in 1989, but the seats and door panels were new.
A new Ford Ranger Splash model was presented with unique chrome wheels, a special color scheme on the sides and a lowered suspension.
Five years later, in 1998, the third generation Ford Ranger was introduced. Externally, the truck was similar to the previous generation, but at the same time significant changes affected the chassis, suspension and transmission. The Ford Ranger gets another new design, which gives it a longer wheelbase and a cabin 7.6 cm longer than models with a regular cab. The interior remained the same as in the period 1995-97.
Sales of the fourth-generation Ford Ranger will start in 2018. The Ford Ranger pickup truck is based on the global Ford T6 Ranger mid-size truck.
The car is equipped with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine with a capacity of 280 hp. and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The pickup is offered in 2-door SuperCab and 4-door SuperCrew versions.
