Information on repair and maintenance of Dodge Caliber cars electronically

The Dodge Caliber is a compact SUV produced under the Dodge brand, owned by Chrysler, from 2007 to 2012.

The premiere of the Dodge Caliber prototype took place in the spring of 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show, and in 2006 the car was put into mass production. This model was an attempt by the American company to create a car that meets European preferences and occupy its niche in the popular golf class. With a length of 4.5 meters, ground clearance of 195 mm, all-wheel drive and SUV functionality, the five-door Dodge Caliber hatchback resembled a crossover.

The basis of the car was a new platform intended for the future generation of Mitsubishi Lancer, on which it was also planned to build Chrysler/Dodge Neon cars for the American market. The appearance of the Dodge Caliber is muscular, bright and memorable.

Clear shapes, chopped body lines, embossed sidewalls, massive bumpers and narrow windows attracted attention and said that this was a representative of the Dodge brand: confident, powerful and maneuverable on city streets.

The car was offered with four different engines. When it was launched in May 2006, the Dodge Caliber was equipped with VW's 103 kW (140 hp) 2.0-litre unit injector engine, known as the 2.0 CRD, and three 1.0-litre petrol engines. 8 hp (110 kW/150 hp), 2.0 (115 kW/156 hp) or 2.4 l (125 kW/170, developed by the Global Engine Manufacturers Alliance (GEMA)).

The 2.0 CRD manual transmission has six gears. The 1.8- and 2.4-litre petrol engines were only available with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the 2.0-litre petrol engine was only available with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) until autumn 2009, which can also be manually shifted to six steps.

Until the end of 2007, the most expensive model was the Dodge Caliber R/T (Road and Track), available only with a 2.4-liter engine. While in the US this variant was available with both all-wheel drive and a CVT transmission, in Europe the R/T was only offered with front-wheel drive and a five-speed transmission.

In the fall of 2007, the Dodge Caliber SRT4 (Street and Racing Technology) was introduced to the US market. This model was equipped with the 2.4 liter engine from the R/T, which received a power increase to 217 kW (295 hp) due to turbocharging, as well as a six-speed manual transmission from Getrag (DMT6) and 19-inch alloy wheels. The SRT4 model was only available with front-wheel drive.

In the summer of 2010, the Dodge Caliber 2.0 CRD was replaced by the 2.2 CRD with 120 kW (163 hp). According to factory information, the standard consumption is 5.8 l/100 km.

Dodge Caliber, equipped with a two-liter engine and a 6-speed CVT, is offered in five trim levels: P0, P1, P2, SXT P1 and SXT P2. Chrysler Group's World Engines deliver powerful performance and fuel efficiency through advanced cylinder head and intake manifold design. The introduction of variable camshaft control (VVT) and intake manifold control for the first time in a Chrysler compact vehicle has resulted in increased power, improved fuel economy, smoother engine operation and reduced noise levels.

The CVT2 variator installed on the Dodge Caliber belongs to the second generation of variators. Chrysler Group engineers have tuned it to provide the optimal gear ratio at all times and work reliably with the engine.

The car has a spacious and practical interior that can be easily transformed. It can comfortably accommodate the driver and up to four passengers, leaving plenty of space for luggage.

Taking care of your car is a key aspect for every driver. Regular maintenance and timely repairs help keep your car in excellent condition.
