Repair and service Chevrolet cars in the eBook

Chevrolet (sometimes abbreviated as Chevy) is a car and truck brand owned by the General Motors (GM) group since May 1918.

The American car manufacturer Chevrolet was created on November 3, 1911 in the United States at the initiative of the Swiss-French race car driver Louis Chevrolet, in collaboration with French engineer Ettienne Planche, and later with businessman William Crapo Durand, who was responsible for financing the project.

Louis Chevrolet was a Swiss race car driver who moved to live in the United States and began competing in motorsport, racing primarily in General Motors' Buicks. These competitions pushed Chevrolet to create their own cars, for which he teamed up with French engineer Etienne Planche. However, the financial capital to finance the project was not enough for it to appear.

For this reason, both ultimately clashed with William C. Durant, who provided financial support for the establishment of the firm and also supported the original idea of using the Chevrolet name for the company name.

The team began their work by introducing the Chevrolet Classic Six as the first example. This sedan was introduced to the market as a novelty thanks to the introduction of a 6-cylinder in-line engine, which is considered a rarity, since up to this point, units were produced with a maximum of 4 cylinders in a row.

The Chevrolet logo, known as the bow tie, appeared on cars in 1913.

Chevy had a big impact on the American car market, especially in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1963, one in ten cars sold in the United States was a Chevrolet. Chevrolet has always been the flagship of General Motors. Globally, Chevrolet had a strong presence in markets such as the Americas and began its expansion in Asia and Africa. So in 2005, Chevrolet was the top-selling car brand in the US and Canada.

Chevrolet vehicles are available in most regions of the world. Outside North America, Chevrolet also sells vehicles manufactured by GM subsidiaries or business partners such as Opel, Holden, Subaru, Avto-Vaz (Lada), Daewoo, etc.

Since 2005, Chevrolet has embarked on a globalization campaign to transform GM-Daewoo's Korean subsidiary into Chevrolet Europe, initially basing its lineup on original Daewoo models.

At one time, Chevrolet increased its presence in the global market through the implementation of a new global design concept called GPix or Global Pix, with which it began introducing its first cars under the name "global". These cars began to be sold in Asia, Europe and America, including the USA.

The first car with this feature was the Chevrolet Aveo introduced to the Chinese market. Later, there were new presentations of the Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Impala and Chevrolet Captiva models, which have common design features with the Chevrolet Aveo.

Throughout its history, the company has produced worldwide successful models such as the Chevrolet Corvette and Chevrolet Camaro.

On December 5, 2013, the American automaker General Motors (GM) decided to end competition among its brands in the European market by withdrawing Chevrolet to leave the field open to its German subsidiary Opel.
