Information on repair and maintenance of Chery Fora cars electronically

The Chery Fora, a C-Class car, was first unveiled as a pre-production prototype at the 2005 Shanghai Auto Show. Originally designated as the A21, the model officially debuted in the Chinese market as the Chery A5 in January 2006. In Russia, it is known as Fora, Elara in Ukraine and Speranza A516 in Egypt.

The model has a modern silhouette with minimal but elegant decorative elements. It blends seamlessly with European and Japanese-Korean cars on the road, presenting an organic appearance.

Chery A5 was the first mid-size sedan (C-segment) developed by the independent company Chery. The project started in the early 2000s and lasted about 5 years. The purpose of the new car (design code A21) was to continue the legacy of the old Chery Fulwin, which was nothing more than the first generation Seat Toledo, produced under license since 1996. The base platform was a deep evolution of the old car's platform.

The body was completely new and made from 400 MPa high-strength steel in the front section and programmed deformation steel in the rest of the interior. And the line of engines was developed by the newly created Chery Powertrain company together with AVL (thus the new Acteco engines were born). In 2005, the car was presented as a semi-final prototype, renamed A21 (the name of the project) and only in 2006 the production model called Chery A5 debuted.

The car comes with a rich basic package, including power steering, adjustable steering wheel, ABS, air conditioning, 15-inch alloy wheels, a spare wheel to match the equipment, fog lights, four airbags (two front and two side), central locking, electric windows and CD player.

Chery Fora departs from traditional Chinese automobile design by the absence of typical “wooden” inserts. The top of the dashboard is made of soft, lightweight plastic that blends seamlessly with the hard panel materials and brushed aluminum inserts to create a cohesive look. The driver's seat has good ergonomics and is equipped with servo drives for adjustment in eight directions.

Heated electric mirrors are informative, and despite the somewhat narrow A-pillars, visibility remains acceptable. The layout and design of the keys and switches are reminiscent of vehicles from more established automakers.

In the back seat, three passengers of average height can enjoy a comfortable ride. A passenger of average height (180 cm) will still have a 5-centimeter headroom. The rear seat backrest folds, allowing you to transport long loads if necessary, and also has a large luggage compartment with a volume of 480 liters.

The model is primarily equipped with a 2.0-liter ASTESO D-VVT 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine that produces 130 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque. This engine was equipped with the initial Russian Chery Fora models, and more recently a variant with a 1.6 liter engine (109 hp, 147 Nm) was introduced. In the Chinese market, the version with a two-liter engine is designated A520, and the 1.6-liter version is designated A516.

Once the engine revs above 1,500 rpm, it delivers strong traction, with acceleration becoming noticeably noticeable once it reaches 3,000 rpm. Chery Fora accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds with a top speed of 185 km/h. Gasoline consumption in the urban cycle averages about 10 liters.

In addition to a manual transmission, Chery Fora can be equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) from the famous German company ZF. Reliable ZF CVTs have proven themselves on various models of such brands as Rover, MG, Mini, Ford, Eagle and others.
