Repair and service Moskvich cars in the eBook
Moskvich-2141 is a Soviet passenger hatchback, which was produced at the Lenin Komsomol Automobile Plant (AZLK). It's hard to believe, but Moskvich turned out to be the prototype of the body of the Simca 1308 model, which was produced by the Chrysler corporation. But the design was completely redone: the front of the body was completely renewed and equipped with a Moskvich-412 engine. The model was jokingly named Maksimka at the factory.
In 85, the car was presented in the final version, and launched into production. The lineup consisted of the main models: 2141 - hatchback, 2142 - sedan, 2335 - pickup, 2901 - minivan. Especially for cars, they planned to open their own motor production. But due to the crisis, the 90% completed plant was unable to repay its loans, so the equipment was distributed and lost.
As a result, the model began to be produced with a VAZ-2106-70 engine. When the models reached serial production from the conveyor, they installed engines from the Ufa plant (UZAM), with a volume of 1.5 liters, 1.7 liters, later 1.8 liters, and sometimes 2.0 liters; or produced by VAZ, volume: 1.6 - 1.8 liters.
With the development of the automotive industry, in the mid-90s, it was decided to equip the model with a modern engine. The Moskvich manufacturers opted for the Renault model with a volume of 2.0 liters. The transmission is a five-speed manual gearbox.
In comparison with the previous AZLK models, the Moskvich-2141 was a real breakthrough. The model looked up-to-date and modern. The use of design solutions made it possible to reduce the weight of the vehicle, reduce fuel consumption, and improve cross-country ability and equipment. The interior of Moskvich was superior to its prototype Simka, and was developed independently. All that is left is: a spare wheel under the boot floor, a door opening and a power frame.
The model was distinguished by a rounded design and a characteristic flow around the body, inside there was a large interior and trunk, easy handling and better cross-country ability on difficult roads.
Moskvich - 2141 was superior to the VAZ model, and was rightfully considered a family car. But since the model did not wait for its own modern engine, it brought a less fortunate future.
The first modification of the Moskvich 01 was unsuccessful. The car did not have the required power, dynamics and was assessed as unreliable. The model received the second restyling in 97, and with it the new name Svyatogorsk. Outwardly, the design changed noticeably, it became more attractive, and the car itself became more powerful thanks to Renault engines, it produced 104-105 horsepower. The manufacturer could not completely abandon domestic engines, so a significant part of the cars were equipped with the same VAZ and UZAM engines.
By the end of the 90s, the next modernization of the car was planned. But in connection with the default in 1998, it became problematic to equip the Svyatogorsk model with foreign motors, and the supplies of VAZ and UZAM were unstable, and prices were overstated. The plant had to cut production volumes and soon sell off its production lines. In 2002, the AZLK conveyor was permanently stopped.
There are not so many owners of domestic Moskvich cars, but they increasingly have to repair and maintain their cars on their own, especially since the availability of parts and spare parts allows this. Every driver should know how to solve basic questions:
- how to change oils;
- how the chassis works;
- how to repair electronics.
