Information on repair and maintenance of Audi A4 cars electronically

The Audi A4 is a compact luxury car produced by the German car manufacturer Audi since 1994. It is the successor to the Audi 80.

In fact, the production history of the Audi A4 is now divided into five generations, which, for continuity with the previous Audi 80, are designated by the letter B followed by a progressive number. Thus, while the last generation of the Audi 80 was abbreviated as B4, the first generation of the Audi A4 was abbreviated as B5 instead, and so on for subsequent generations of B6, B7, B8 and B9.

Noteworthy is the front suspension, which, from the first series, uses a high wishbone with a virtual steering axle, and then remains for all generations.

First of all, it should be said that all five generations released so far had their own version of the sedan and one version of the station wagon, but only the second and third generations were also produced with a convertible body. Starting with the fourth generation of the Audi A4, the convertible versions as well as the new coupé version have been separated from the Audi A4 range to form the new Audi A5 range, which will in any case always share the same mechanical base with the Audi A4.

It should be noted that the second and third generation had the same design code with the same bodywork. This is due to the fact that, although the two generations are denoted by different abbreviations, in fact the third is in practice a restyling of the second, so the basic structure has remained almost the same.

The sporty versions of the Audi A4 are called "S4" and "RS4" and always have all-wheel drive.

The first generation Audi A4 B5 debuted in 1994 and was produced on the Volkswagen B platform, which was also used to produce the fourth generation Volkswagen Passat.

It also had a longitudinal front-wheel drive engine, although many A4 owners opted for the optional quattro all-wheel drive. Initially, the A4 was only available as a four-door sedan; Avant station wagon was introduced a year later.

The new Audi A4 B6 appeared at the end of 2000 and went on sale from January 2001. The new car styling line was inspired by the C5 (second generation) version of the Audi A6. The base 1.6L model remained unchanged, but all other petrol engines were either removed or given more power.

Audi introduced the third series Audi A4 with numerous changes at the end of 2004 under the internal name B7.

However, this new A4 still used the old Volkswagen B6 (PL46) platform and the chassis was carried over from the previous Audi A4 B6 but featured a completely redesigned agility, suspension geometry and a new range of engines, navigation system and chassis electronics.

The fourth generation Audi A4 went on sale on January 10, 2008. The car was marked with the factory code B8. It is based on the concept of a modular longitudinal body structure used by Audi for cars with a longitudinal engine.

Audi A4 B9 went on sale at the end of 2015. The car is built on the MLB Evo platform, produced in sedan and wagon. In addition, a car with increased ground clearance (Audi A4 Allroad) and an extended wheelbase (Audi A4 L) appeared.

As the initial engine, a 1.4 TSI engine with a half-cylinder deactivation system is used, and among the most interesting versions is a plug-in hybrid (2.0 TFSI with 211 hp and an electric motor with 95 hp), capable of traveling up to 50 km on one electric traction .
