Repair and service Toyota cars in the eBook
Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational corporation that manufactures automobiles. Its headquarters are located in the city of the same name, Toyota.
Toyota is Japan's largest automobile company, producing about nine million vehicles per year. The company dominates the Japanese market, where about 40% of new cars were registered in 2004, and has a significant market share in both Europe and the United States. It also has a significant market share in several countries in Southeast Asia. In 2008, Toyota overtook General Motors to become the world's leading automobile company by number of vehicles and turnover.
At the beginning of 2011, Toyota was again the world leader in sales, with almost 8.5 million vehicles sold in 2010, up 8% from 2009 (followed by the GM and VW groups). The Japanese auto giant sold 9.75 million vehicles in 2012, surpassing American General Motors and German Volkswagen. The corporation remains the world's leading manufacturer by the number of vehicles sold.
However, in late 2016, Volkswagen dethroned Toyota and became the world's leading automaker by the number of vehicles sold. According to the Forbes Global 2000, it was the tenth-largest company in the world as of May 1, 2017. In June 2020, Tesla dethroned Toyota and became the world's leading automaker by market capitalization.
History of the Toyota brand
The Toyota logo, which appeared in 1990, is described by three ellipses, which, according to the Japanese car brand, symbolize "the union of the consumer and the soul of the product." The stylized letter "T" consists of two small inner ellipses. However, Toyota has many logos, some of which are associated with a specific model and a full range of vehicles. The rear logo is the same for all models, but the front logo in Japan often varies depending on the model.
The company produces a wide range of cars that are generally appreciated for the quality of their materials and good design.
Toyota is one of the largest companies in the development of hybrid cars and the first to mass-produce and sell these cars. Thus, its leader Toyota Prius has been produced and developed since 1997.
The company has adapted its technology to smaller cars such as the Toyota Auris or Toyota Yaris, as well as to models of its luxury brand Lexus. This technology was named and sold under the name "Hybrid Synergy Drive" for Toyota models and "Lexus Hybrid Drive" for Lexus models. Prius has become the best-selling hybrid car in the North American markets.
The most popular models of this company in the Russian market:
- Toyota Camry (the standard of comfort, safety and reliability among business-class sedans);
- Toyota RAV4 (five-seater compact crossover);
- Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (mid-size premium frame SUV);
