Renault Scénic is a C-segment minivan developed by French car manufacturer Renault. The car was produced between 1996 and 2022 at the Douai plant in northern France and Brazil. Its competitors include the Citroën Xsara Picasso, Citroën C4 Picasso, Ford C-Max, Opel Zafira, Peugeot 5008, SEAT Altea, Toyota Corolla Verso, Volkswagen Golf Plus and Volkswagen Touran.

The first generation Renault Scenic, as a minivan, really had many interesting features and characteristics. The design, developed under the direction of Anne Asensio, was unique and daring for its time. This design contributed significantly to the popularity of minivans.

Most versions of the first generation Renault Scenic were front-wheel drive, but there was also a version of the Scenic RX4 with all-wheel drive for more difficult road conditions. Disc brakes front and rear (front ventilated) provided reliable and effective braking.

The body dimensions made the Renault Scenic a compact but roomy minivan that was easy to maneuver in city traffic. One of the main advantages of minivans is the large luggage compartment. Renault Scenic had a spacious luggage compartment, which could be further expanded by folding the rear seats.

The first generation Renault Scenic offered a variety of petrol and diesel engines, allowing you to choose the option that best suits the owner's needs:

  • 1.4 l (55 kW/75 hp) - this engine was more of an economical option for daily trips in the city;
  • 1.6 l (66 kW/90 hp) -slightly more powerful and more suitable for combined trips;
  • 2.0 l (84 kW/114 hp) - this engine was the most powerful petrol variant and provided higher performance;
  • 1.9 l (69 kW/94 hp) -The diesel engine offered outstanding fuel economy and low-end torque.

This varied choice of engines allowed Renault Scenic owners to choose the one that best suited their needs and driving style.

In March 2003, shortly after the premiere of the new Renault Mégane, a completely new generation of Renault Scenic was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. This car inherited the design from its fellow Renault Mégane, thereby continuing the style of the previous version.

This car was built on a new platform developed within the framework of the Renault-Nissan alliance, known as the Nissan C. Its suspension includes an independent front suspension with MacPherson struts, while the rear suspension remains semi-independent.

The body dimensions are: length – 4259 mm, width – 1805 mm, height – 1620 mm. Wheelbase – 2685 mm. Standard wheel sizes are 185/65 R15 for younger versions and 205/60 R16 for more powerful versions.

The third generation Renault Scenic was launched in 2009, although the model year was officially listed as 2010. It was built on the modern Renault Megane platform. The car also went on sale in Europe in 2009.

The car is equipped with disc brakes at the front (the front brakes are ventilated), as well as an automatic parking brake, which is activated when the engine is stopped and released when the accelerator pedal is pressed.

At the end of 2011, Renault Scenic underwent modernization. The front part of the car was radically changed, and new engines from the Energy family were introduced. The list of equipment has also been expanded.

In March 2016, Renault presented the fourth generation Renault Scenic at the Geneva Motor Show. The new Renault Scenic was built on the Nissan CMF-C platform. Its exterior design made it look more like a crossover than a traditional minivan. The Renault Scenic IV also features a large windshield and large side mirrors, which improves the car's visibility.

In terms of engines, the car, built on the CMF-CD platform, is equipped with two 1.2-liter gasoline engines with a power of 115 hp. and 130 hp, as well as six diesel engines offering a power range from 95 hp. up to 160 hp Combined cycle fuel consumption ranges from 3.4 to 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers and CO2 emissions range from 89 to 129 g/km.
