Repair and service Mercury cars in the eBook
Mercury is an independent division of the American concern Ford Motor Company, which was created specifically for the development of middle-class cars in an affordable price range. The automobile company was founded in 1938 by the son of the owner of the plant, Edsel Ford. The factory was the middle link between the production of Ford budget cars and the luxury Líncoln. Almost all models of the brand were based on versions of cars of other brands of the same concern.
The first model, the Mercury 8, was released before the outbreak of the war, and managed to win the sympathy of the US government. It was equipped with an 8-cylinder engine with a power of 95 hp. During the war years, the company retrained and provided the army with ambulances and buses under its own brand.
After the war, the Ford concern needed to optimize and restructure its entire production. Thus, it was decided to merge the Líncoln and Mercury divisions into one direction. & Nbsp;
The first joint model Ford Vedette was released closer to the 50s, and it was equipped with a new generation engine with a volume of 4.2 liters. When the start of production was laid, designers and designers began to increasingly present new models of Mercury.
In 1967, the luxury model Mercury Cougar was released and sold successfully for 3 years. It was equipped with an 8-cylinder engine with 335 hp. In the 70s, the fuel crisis began, and then Japanese compact cars conquered most of the American market. Mercury sales fell sharply, especially as Líncoln and Ford continued to grow.
In the early 90s, the Ford concern entered into a cooperation agreement with the Japanese company Nissan, to which most of the shares of Mercury were transferred and the further development of cars: Villager, Mystique, Tracer.
Since the 2000s, when Ford bought out the Volvo and Land Rover brands, there have been changes in the management of the group's divisions and Mercury became a subsidiary of Líncoln, where the production of successful and luxurious cars was established at its plant. & Nbsp;
At the same time, the famous Mercury Mountaineer SUV, which can be found on the roads today, was introduced to the world. The model was a copy of the then popular Ford Explorer SUV, but with an excellent exterior design and feature set. Mountaineer was equipped with 6- and 8-cylinder engines with a capacity of 205 and 215 hp. from. respectively. The second generation of the model began to be produced from 2002 to 2005. Instead of a 5-liter engine, Mountaineer began to install a new 4.6-liter "eight", which is capable of developing 239 hp. The third and last generation Mercury Mountaineer drove out of the factory in 2006. It was significantly modernized in “stuffing”, and outwardly was similar to the previous models. Car production ended in 2010 as the Mercury brand ceased to exist.
