Hummer is an American automaker that is part of the General Motors (GM) automotive group. The company produces a series of SUVs based on the Humvee military all-terrain vehicle.
Hummer (High Utility Maximum Mobility Easy Rider) was a brand of American SUVs and SUVs known as H1, H2, and H3. The name Hummer (High Utility Maximum Mobility Easy Rider) originated in 1992 when AM General, the manufacturer of the Army High Performance Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), better known as the Humvee, decided to create a civilian version of the Hummer H1.
The Humvee, manufactured by AM General since the mid-1980s, was primarily intended for the military market and has been in service with many military and security forces. It was designed to be able to ride on the ruts left by the tanks. The new car replaced the old jeeps.
Its large size, very popular, allows for multiple versions, from armored personnel carriers to ambulances and missile carriers of all types. This machine was known for participating in the first war in the Persian Gulf, then it was demonstrated in the Balkans.
In 1998, AM General sold the Hummer name to General Motors, which thus became the official distributor of the Humme H1, although production remained under AM General's control.

The Hummer H1 is the roughest and largest model in the lineup, released in 1992. The original vehicle was created on the basis of the one that was originally used by the American military as a means of transporting personnel or an anti-aircraft missile defense. The first series is powered by a 6.5-liter V8 diesel engine that develops 185 hp. at 3800 rpm. Its top speed (no speed limit) is 145 km / h, and its weight is about 3429 kg.
In May 2006, the Hummer brand announced it was discontinuing production of the Hummer H1 for reasons of unprofitability.
In 2003, General Motors released the second model of the Hummer H2 brand. Although its styling is inspired by the Hummer H1, it is no longer a military vehicle, but an SUV based on the Chevrolet Tahoe. It has some qualities of cross-country ability, although logically it is much inferior to the Hummer H1. This car really gave birth to the Hummer brand as its use and size are more suitable for the road, although its fuel consumption and size remain very high.
The Hummer H3, the brand's third model, was launched in 2005. It is also an SUV (there is also a pickup variant) based on the Chevrolet Colorado. Its styling is still military inspired, but smaller than the Hummer H2. General Motors expected this model to make a breakthrough attempt in Europe, especially given the planned diesel version. Like other Hummers, this is a fully customizable vehicle, from side lights to mobile phones and even the signature Hummer grill. Since 2008, the "severe" H3T model has also entered the market in 3.5 l, 3.7 l and 5.3 l versions, the latest engine name is called Alpha.
Following GM's financial troubles in 2008, the brand was listed for sale in 2009 and then closed in 2010. In 2020, GMC is relaunching the brand with an electric Hummer EV.
In 2021, GMC begins production of its 1,000 hp GMC Hummer EV electric model. and 15 590 Nm of torque, the first electric Hummer and the first electric GMC.
