History of the Hongqi Brand

The name Hongqi (translated from Chinese as “Red Flag”) first appeared in 1958. It is the oldest automotive brand in China, founded under the state-owned FAW Group. From the beginning, Hongqi was created as a symbol of power and national pride — the first Hongqi CA72 limousines were made exclusively for party officials and high-ranking delegations.
