Information on repair and maintenance of Citroen C5 cars electronically

Citroen C5 is a middle-class car model from the French car manufacturer Citroën, produced from 2001 to 2017.

The second generation Citroen C5 (type RD/TD), introduced in the spring of 2008, is equipped with a double wishbone axle at the front and a multi-link axle at the rear. The chassis can be sprung with either Hydractive 3+ nitrogen spring elements or conventional steel spring and shock absorber combinations.

The car debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 2000. This car entered the company's lineup, replacing two models Citroen Xsara and XM. The Citroen C5 was produced in two body styles: hatchback and station wagon (C5 Break), offering three trim levels: X, SX and Exclusive.

The Citroen C5 was easily recognizable in city traffic thanks to its original appearance, which included an oval radiator grille with a large chrome emblem, expressive slanting headlights, a characteristic slope of the hood and a large angle of inclination of the windshield. The exterior of the car carried with it a bright personality, which was also reflected in the interior.

The trunk of the car was quite roomy. There was also a generous glove compartment in the cabin, and the SX and Exclusive trims offered additional storage under the seats and in the rear center armrest.

Initially, the Citroen C5 was available with several types of engines: petrol 2.0, 2.0 HPi (with direct injection) and 3.0 V6, as well as diesel Common Rail: 2.0 HDI and 2.2 HDI. In the spring of 2001, with the introduction of the Break version, a 1.8-liter gas engine was also offered. In the autumn of 2003, production of the 2.0 HPi engine was suspended, and instead the 2.0 HDi diesel engine was introduced with less power - 90 hp.

This car is equipped with a modified third generation hydropneumatic system, which was the first in the Citroen model range. This system integrated the braking system with the suspension system. The hydraulic pump did not depend on the car engine - it was integrated into a single system with the electric motor. The entire suspension is equipped with a set of sensors that constantly monitor its operation and send data to the computer to adjust the settings.

In September 2004, the Citroen C5 model underwent restyling, as a result of which the exterior of the body was changed and the interior was updated. The front and rear of the car have been modified, including new headlights, lights and bumpers. Also, during the update, the equipment of the Citroen C5 was expanded.

During the modernization process, the range of engines was revised. The 2.0 16V petrol unit received an increase in power and torque, and the diesel engines were replaced with new sixteen-valve versions 1.6 HDI and 2.0 HDI.

In 2006, a completely new 2.2 HDI diesel engine with two turbochargers was introduced. At the same time, the power of the base 1.8 16V petrol unit was increased to 125 hp.

The second generation Citroen C5 went on sale in early 2008, with production continuing until June 2017, while stocks last.

All cars had seven airbags as standard, including a knee airbag. The top-end “Exclusive” configuration had 9 airbags. Gasoline engines were 1.8 liters with a maximum power of 125 hp, 2.0 liters with a power of 140 hp. (later replaced by a 1.6 THP 156 turbo developed jointly by PSA and BMW) and a 3.0 L with 211 hp, all naturally aspirated and turbocharged.

Diesels were 1.6 liters with 112 hp, 2.0 liters with 140 or 160 hp, 2.2 liters with 173 hp, 2.7 liters with 204 hp. (later replaced by 2.2 of the same power), all with variable geometry turbocharger and common rail direct injection.

In 2009, a 3-liter 3.0 HDI engine with 240 hp was released. and a new 2.0 HDI engine with 163 hp, which can be combined with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CAS sequential automatic transmission.
