Exeed is a Chinese premium SUV brand, the automotive division of the Chinese automobile group Chery. The brand was introduced in September 2017.
The Exeed brand was unveiled on September 14, 2017 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in Germany with the Exeed TX concept car, a mid-size SUV with Chery badges. The first Exeed car to be unveiled was the Exeed LX concept, presented at the Beijing Auto Show on April 29, 2018.
The first production model of Exeed, released in March 2019, was the mid-size SUV Exeed TX/TXL. The following April, the third Exeed prototype, the E-IUV, was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show. The second production car, the compact SUV Exeed LX based on the Chery Tiggo 7.
On November 22, 2019, a concept car called Exeed VX, which is the brand's flagship SUV, was unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Production of the full-scale Exeed VX SUV began in January 2020.
At the 2019 Shanghai International Auto Show, Chery showcased the production version of the TX under the new Exeed brand. Unlike the car shown in Frankfurt, this version doesn't have the Chery logo at all, instead featuring a larger grille with Exeed lettering on it. Along with the standard Exeed TX, the company also showcased the Exeed TXL, which is a 3-row, 7-seat version of the standard Exeed TX. Apart from the length and wheelbase, nothing else has fundamentally changed between it and the standard Exeed TX. Production begins January 24, 2019.
Both the Exeed TX and TXL are powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that meets China VI (CN-6) emission standards. The Exeed TX is available in three models, powered by a 1.6-litre direct-injection turbocharged engine producing 145 kW (197 hp) and a maximum torque of 290 Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Fuel consumption per 100 km is 6.8 l/7.4 l (4 wheels) stated by the officials.
The Exeed TXL's exterior design is distinctive and lacks the typical Asian styling. This crossover attracts the eye with its elegant and harmonious appearance, slight aggression and attention-grabbing details.
From the front, it impresses with its energetic and expressive design, embodying strength and character with the special shape of the headlights and the massive grille that gives it a certain athleticism. From the rear, the crossover impresses with its dynamic shapes, expressive headlights, sculpted rear end and stylish exhaust pipes, creating a complete and fashionable image.
From the side, the Exeed TXL shows harmonious, dynamic and refined lines, emphasized by a long hood, a sweeping roof with a smooth sill line, side contours enriched with embossed plastic, and expressive wheel arches that give the car a rounded square shape.
In terms of size, Exeed TXL is a mid-size class: length is 4780 mm, width – 1885 mm, height – 1730 mm. The distance between the front and rear axle reaches 2800 mm, and the ground clearance is 210 mm. The interior of the car follows modern trends - it is elegant, laconic and gives a feeling of luxury, combining high quality design with sporty elements.
The model was restyled in 2021. The updated TXL received an updated bumper with a radiator grille consisting of horizontal stripes in body color. Additionally, the updated LED daytime running lights are positioned vertically, while the updated air intake is positioned at the bottom. The rear end received revised spoilers, redesigned fenders and minor changes to the interior of the taillights.
Mechanically, the Exeed TXL facelift continues to use the same drivetrain as the pre-facelift model. The crossover is equipped with a 1.6-liter direct injection gasoline engine capable of developing 187 hp. and torque 28 kgf. Transmission: Seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
