Information on repair and maintenance of Jaguar X-Type cars electronically

The Jaguar X-Type, body code X400, is a premium compact car produced by British automaker Jaguar Cars between 2001 and 2009. The car was released in June 2001 as a sedan. It was Jaguar's first mid-size car. The model was the most compact in the Jaguar line and was a sedan and a station wagon, with the station wagon being the only one in the company's line.

The car was developed based on the 2001 Ford Mondeo platform. The use of such a platform allowed for cost-effective and high-quality production compared to Jaguar's own mid-range platform.

To remain entirely consistent with the brand's typical rear-wheel drive concept, the Jaguar X-Type was initially launched exclusively with all-wheel drive. It was only from mid-2002 that pure front-wheel drive base models were added (only with the smaller 2.0L petrol or 2.0L diesel engines), which fans of the brand criticized as a violation of traditional British design principles.

In January 2004, a station wagon model known as the Estate was introduced as an addition. And at the end of 2007, the model was modernized.

All-wheel drive Jaguar X-Types certainly have their advantages. Every day there are more fans of this scheme in the world, and buyers (at least, that’s what the price list says) will not have to pay extra. Speed lovers, if disappointed, will not be too much, because 60 percent of the torque is transmitted to the rear wheels. The creators of the car paid special attention to the torsional rigidity of the body. As the designers modestly claim, the X-Type's body rigidity is 30 percent higher than that of the former leader BMW 3 Series.

The front suspension is the time-tested McPherson double wishbone. And at the rear there is a completely independent multi-link, assembled, by the way, just like the front one, on a subframe. This scheme promises not only confident cornering, but also a significant reduction in noise and vibration. Temperamental engines keep company with a sports chassis.

Standard equipment on the Jaguar X-Type includes: 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive, 5-speed automatic transmission, automatic air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, stability control, power moonroof, AM/FM stereo, front and rear curtain airbags, front airbags, knee airbags, an 8-way driver's seat, leather seats, a telescopic steering column and 16-inch alloy wheels.

In the Jaguar X-Type station wagon, the standard equipment includes rear parking sensors, 17-inch wheels, touch-sensitive wipers and a premium audio system.

Options include heated front seats, touch-sensitive wipers, a 10-way driver's seat, SIRIUS satellite radio, Bluetooth, 18-inch wheels, an Alpine premium audio system, parking sensors and a DVD-based navigation system. The car is also available with a Luxury option package.

The interior of the car reflects the authentic English style characteristic of the Jaguar brand: a high almost vertical dashboard with wooden inserts, longitudinal retractors on the seats, beautiful doors with exquisite pockets and speaker grilles decorated with chrome rims. Everything is done with sophistication and a hint of luxury. The steering column is adjustable in two planes, and there are plenty of adjustments in the cabin.

In addition to adjusting the length and angle of the backrest, it is possible to change the height of the front and back parts of the pillow independently of each other, as well as rearrange the lumbar support. However, there is no settings memory function. Using the air conditioner is convenient thanks to clear buttons and a large information display. The cabin also has separate interior lighting.

The brakes, noise and vibration insulation deserve only positive reviews. Not a single extraneous sound is heard either from the suspension or from the interior elements, which creates a cozy atmosphere in the cabin.

With the discontinuation of the Jaguar X-Type, owners have to turn to the secondary market to purchase this model. Given their long service life, cars require regular maintenance and repairs.
