Information on repair and maintenance of Buick Excelle cars electronically

The Buick Excelle is a compact car produced between 2003 and 2023 by Shanghai General Motors Company Limited, a subsidiary of General Motors, under the Buick brand. The original Buick Excelle was based on the Daewoo Lacetti, developed in South Korea by Daewoo Motors. At the beginning of its release, this car was presented worldwide under the Daewoo brand. However, in 2004, General Motors rebranded all Daewoos in Europe, renaming them Chevrolet.

The successor to the Buick Excelle, based on the Daewoo Lacetti, is based on GM's global "Delta II" platform, developed in Rüsselsheim by Opel at the "International Technical Development Center" (ITDC). Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra were also created on the same platform.

In 2009, following the economic crisis and the elimination of the Saturn brand, General Motors reduced the number of brands for North America to four, which led to Opel models being produced under the Buick brand. Opel models are also sold in China under the Buick brand.

The first generation Buick Excelle was sold in China from 2003 to 2016. The car is a Chevrolet Nubira with a Buick logo. In 2012, the car received modifications. Power comes from a 1.5-litre four-cylinder in-line petrol engine with a maximum output of 83 kW (113 hp). As a sedan, the car was built in parallel with the second generation and the Buick Verano.

The first generation was available in sedan, station wagon and hatchback versions under the name Excelle HRV. The HRV and station wagon versions were produced from 2005 to 2009, while the sedan continued to be produced in Shanghai until August 2016.

In April 2008, the Buick Excelle was introduced after a thorough modernization, which was carried out specifically for the Chinese market and did not include other twin versions of the model around the world. The appearance of the front panel has changed: the shape of the headlights and an enlarged trapezoidal radiator grille, decorated with chrome, have changed.

The Buick Excelle XT hatchback debuted in China in 2009, which is essentially a renamed Opel Astra J (2009 to present). In 2010, a sedan called the Buick Excelle GT debuted. A station wagon based on the second generation Buick Excelle GT debuted in 2018 under the name Buick Excelle GX.

In 2013, the first-generation Chinese Buick Excelle underwent a second restyling, as a result of which the bumper design was changed, as well as minor adjustments to the shape of the radiator grille and rear bumper. At launch there was only a 1.6-liter engine, which was replaced by a 1.5-liter engine in 2013.

In August 2016, Buick decided to discontinue production of the Buick Excelle despite strong sales, with 2.68 million units sold over 13 years.

The second generation Buick Excelle was introduced in May 2018 and launched in the Chinese market on June 22, 2018. Based on the new GEM platform created by General Motors, the second generation Buick Excelle is equipped with a new 1.3-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine producing 79 kW (106 hp) and 133 Nm of torque. Transmission is provided by a 6-speed manual gearbox or optionally by a continuously variable CVT.

The car was originally created in hatchback form as the new, sixth generation of the European Opel Corsa, which was scheduled to debut in mid-2017. Due to the takeover of Opel by the French concern PSA Peugeot Citroen, in the meantime, the finished project of the new Corsa built by General Motors was canceled, so it was completely put into production by the other remaining GM brand - the Chinese branch of Buick.

The second-generation Buick Excelle hit the market in July 2018, bringing the Excelle name back into use after a two-year hiatus. In Buick's Chinese offering, the second generation Buick Excelle was a smaller city sedan that was positioned below the Buick Excelle GT.
