Vauxhall Motors is represented by the car company in the UK and is a subsidiary of Stellantis.
The founder of the firm is Alexander Wilson in 1857. Initially, the company was engaged in the production of engines for steam ships and tugs. And only 46 years later, the first car rolled off the assembly line. But the firm was never able to achieve huge success.
Since the mid-20th century, Vauxhall Motors has partnered with the German automaker Opel, and is the UK dealer for Opel cars. Meanwhile, Australian Holden cars are also produced under this brand. In 2017, General Motors sold Opel and Vauxhall to a merger between Peugeot and Citroen.
The Vauxhall Astra is the prototype of the Opel Astra that has been produced in the UK since 1991. But also under this model, up to 91 years, they produced and sold cars Opel Kadett D and Opel Kadett E. Vauxhall Astra Н - a hatchback of the third generation, was equipped with a right-hand drive, 2.0 l petrol engine, with a turbocharging system. The engine had a working power of 241 horsepower and was equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. This was the first Opel-Vauxhall vehicle to receive 5 out of 5 stars in the crash test.
Vauxhall Insignia launched the first generation A in 2008 and it was the first car to be powered by the Epsilon II platform. The car was equipped with a 2.8 L V-6 engine with a manual or automatic transmission to choose from. The second generation was introduced 10 years later. The Insignia is offered in three versions: the Grand Sport liftback, the Sport Tourer station wagon and the Country Tourer. Vauxhall Insignia's UK sales ranked 2nd among all international automotive markets.
Since 1998, Vauxhall began producing Movano minibuses. The first generation of buses was equipped with diesel engines in 10 modifications: from 1.9 liters to 3.0 liters, with a capacity of 80-136 horsepower, respectively. Quite often, cars were used for ambulances. The second generation is currently being produced. The model has 4 engine modifications, with a volume of 2.3 liters, but with different powers from 100 to 170 hp. Each modification corresponds to Euro -4 and Euro-5.
In 2001, General Motors introduced the Vauxhall Vivaro minivan, which won the UK Car of the Year award in 2006. The car has three generations. Different generations were equipped with different 2-2.5 liter gasoline and diesel engines, power 116 - 146 hp. Since 2016, the Vauxhall Vivaro has received a Made In Britain badge on the back.
