Repair and service Lexus cars in the eBook

Lexus (an abbreviation for Luxury EXportation United States) is Toyota's luxury brand launched in 1989 in response to the birth of the Acura and Infiniti brands (created by Honda and Nissan, respectively).

The Lexus brand was originally conceived to compete with the Acura and Infiniti brands in the US market. However, the success of Lexus models has led Toyota to expand its market not only in the United States but globally.

Throughout its history, Lexus has become the best-selling premium car brand in Japan and is among the top ten Japanese brands with the highest market value. Toyota, through the Lexus brand, focuses primarily on impeccable finish quality. It is the first luxury car manufacturer to include hybrid versions in its products.

Toyota has invested over $ 1 billion in Lexus development, resulting in approximately 165,000 units sold at a base price of $ 35,000.

The Lexus project was launched in 1983 by Eiji Toyoda with a completely new goal compared to typical Toyota production canons: to create high-end cars. Toyota's goals were very ambitious, in fact they did not intend to create only a new model or a new model line, but wanted to create their own brand for the luxury car market through the creation of a new company.

In 1987 the production phase began. Lexus' first proprietary model was the LS 400, released in 1989, with a design that bears little resemblance to Toyota's at the time. It began to be marketed in the United States and later in Japan under the name Toyota Celsior. This car, located in the F segment, was born out of a project launched in 1983 to create a flagship sedan capable of challenging the best cars in the world. The Lexus LS 400 (XF10) was not based on any existing model or common platform. 60 designers, 1400 engineers and almost 3000 technicians took part in its development.

On January 2, 1988, after two years of research, the Lexus brand was officially unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The range covers everything from luxury sedans to large limousines, SUVs and sports models. 1999 saw the release of the Lexus IS, a four-door midsize sedan that rivals the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Infiniti Q50, Jaguar XE, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Volvo S60.

Over time, the Lexus IS has become one of the brand's best-selling models. The car is powered by a 2,494 cc 4-cylinder engine coupled to a 143 hp electric motor with an average fuel consumption of 4.3 to 4.7 l / 100 km. The Lexus IS was the only one in the Lexus lineup to lack full hybrid technology.

Following a corporate reorganization between 2001 and 2005, Lexus began operating its own design, engineering and manufacturing centers independently of Toyota.
